Before you begin, preheat your oven to 175F (80C). In a large mixing
bowl, combine oats, flour, rice and bone meal. In a separate mixing bowl, beat the eggs. Melt the lard and mix into
the eggs. Then stir the egg mixture into the flour mix. Add the beef stock and stir until all the ingredients are
well combined.
Grease a large baking pan, cookie pan or pizza pan and pour the
mixture into it. This is a large recipe, so you may need more than one baking pan anyway. Flatten out the mixture
with a spatula or the back of a spoon and bake at 175F (80C) for around 45 minutes.
Try to keep the batch relatively thin, as a thicker batch will take
longer to cook. It may also begin to burn on the outside, yet still be raw in the center if it's too
thick.
The kibble should be lightly browned when it's ready. Allow the
kibble to cool completely before breaking it up into small chunks.
Store completed kibble chunks in air tight containers in the fridge
for up to 4 days. Any unused kibble can be frozen in air tight containers.
Suggestions: you can alter your recipe according to your dog's tastes by changing the beef stock for chicken
stock or gravy, or even meat drippings. It's also acceptable to add a cup of minced chicken, hamburger or beef to
the batter before you bake it.
